The Gardeners Cottage — Comfortable, Cosy, Eclectic & Welcoming
The Gardeners Cottage sleeps two adults and is a lovely property originally built in 1711 with extensive views over the walled garden of Newton House a Jacobean manor house, the orchard and parkland. There is also a pretty herbaceous front garden to welcome you on arrival. You step inside the cottage to find a charming, timeless elegance with eclectic contemporary flair.
There are two sitting rooms, one with an open fire and the second is next to the luxurious double bedroom and bathroom, upstairs.
All the kindling, coal and logs are available for your use in addition to the central heating. The bed linen, towels, dressing gowns, and sample size toiletries are also provided together with a hairdryer. There are two televisions with a selection of dvds to choose from in addition to lots of information about where to visit locally and more importantly where to eat! You will be spoilt for choice. There is something for everyone.
The kitchen/dining room has a smart range cooker and houses all that the keenest chef requires. We leave fresh flowers cut from the garden and herbs, freshly laid eggs, a homemade cake, butter, milk and a small sample of our very own Newton House Gin a small batch of hand crafted gin, distilled in the old dairy of the main house, for our guests to enjoy. The stable door leads to a private terrace edged with large gas BBQ table as well as a conventional charcoal BBQ surrounded by a lovely herb garden. The cottage overlooks the beautiful working vegetable and flower garden, blooming with produce, espaliered fruit trees and flowers for cutting.
Enjoy the wonderful gardens or dip your toes in the river Yeo which meanders through the 60 acres of parkland, catch a fish or wander in the orchard and admire our chickens. Bring a fishing rod and wellies, a favourite dvd or just a book and a bottle of wine to chill and relax!
Just be great guests and have a wonderful break away in a beautiful setting.
